[edit] Amber Valley Rugby Club
Introduction - or Alfreton Rugby Club
History - The club was formed in October 1967 by Stan Moorhouse at the Three Horse Shoes pub in Ripley and attracted 22 prospective players at the first meeting.
Matches were played on Swanwick Hall School's pitch until the end of 1967.
The Palmer Morewood Memorial pitch was available and permission was given by Alfreton Miners Welfare Club to use it. Chris Fishbourne, Tony Robbins and a handful of other people worked hard but no progress was made until the close of the 1984/85 season. In early 1993 the club moved to a new new location at Pye Bridge. The Pye Bridge Ground has a purpose built Club House and pitches.
