The new look Alfreton Leisure Centre
Introduction Alfreton Leisure Centre was once the host for numerous "Northern Soul" nights and became famous for the events across england. It also hosted bouts for British wrestling series in the late 70's and early 80's featuring popular names like Big Daddy, Mick Macmannus and Giant Haystacks.
Facilities Alfreton Leisure Centre, has a 60 station Gym, two glass backed squash courts with spectator seating /viewing, a Cafe serving food and beverages, vending machines, a large swimming pool and a teaching / childrens pool, vibro gym, "mixed" sauna, fitness classes, modern changing rooms with showers, bowls hall, meeting and function rooms.
The Main Sports Hall has been refurbished and is suitable for badminton, football, netball, basketball and volleyball.
Also onsite is the Gymnastics Academy for children of all ages and abilities. Recreational Gymnastics are presently held on Tuesday evening and all day Saturday. The Amber Valley Gym Club also have extensive use of the facilities, please ask for details at our Reception. Pre-school Gymnastics are run via Gym Kidz call 07717 065095.
Notes to Parents: Alfreton Leisure Centre does not have a Creche service.
History
Re-opens after a major refurbishment on 12th May 2008. The new swimming pool will be open in the summer of 2008. The opening of the pool has been delayed until late spring 2009. The re-opening of the swimming pool has been again further delayed and is becoming something of a farce with local people - at 16th august 2009, the swimming pool is still closed.
Local news sources report that there is a new opening date for Alfreton Leisure Centre of 7th September (2009) to coincide with a membership price rise.

Alfreton Leisure Centre Opening Hours are 7am till 10pm Monday to Friday and from 8am on Weekends. Closed on all Bank Holidays.
Parking is limited at busy times - mainly evenings and at weekends when events are held.
